Originally composed as a string quartet, Wedding Song was commissioned by Ms. Brouwer’s son and his fiancée as a march to be performed during their wedding.  One of the musicians hired to perform the piece at the ceremony happened to also be Artistic Director of the Musica Sinfonia of Los Angeles, and she asked that the work be arranged for string orchestra. The new version was subsequently premiered by the Sinfonia in July 2001.  In the words of the composer:  “The work expresses the love that Greg and Michele feel for one another, and the love that I feel for them.”
