The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra opened its 64th season on September 27, 2013, with “Lost in Space,” a program dedicated to the Solar System and other-worldly ideas. In addition to Gustav Holst’s “The Planets,” the program featured Pluto by Margaret Brouwer. Arizona Public Radio's Janice Baker spoke with Brouwer before the concert. Margaret Brouwer's Pulse for wind symphony received its world premiere March 2014 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Southwest Regional Conference of the College Band Directors Association. Dr. Caroline Beatty, director of the Texas State Wind Symphony, commissioned Ms. Brouwer to compose this work for her ensemble, which will performed the premiere.
